Toddler Botanica

We went to the Denver Botanic Gardens with the Zwyers today. It's still pretty early in the season - even though we've had crazy warm weather lately - so we didn't expect to see many flowers.

The fountains, of course, are always a toddler favorite. 

They had a number of stations set up so kids could explore different botanical concepts - this one had trays of pine cones, seed pods and leaves.  David actually attempted to use the supplied magnifying glass to examine the specimens; my kids just wanted to gnaw on them.

David loves to ride on the front of our double stroller, but he has learned from experience that his legs are so long he has to hold them up the whole time so as not to inadvertently act as a braking mechanism...

Despite my attempts to interest them in the trays of aromatic herbs behind me, the boys spent a good 20 minutes playing with the water fountain.

Jack was just along for the ride... if he couldn't pick it and eat it, he wasn't interested.
