Spoonfed

I've been trying to give Ryan a spoon and a bowl at each meal, to introduce the concept of plates and utensils. He's gotten quite capable of feeding himself oatmeal mixed with yogurt and applesauce using the spoon.

Then again, sometimes it's just more efficient to use your hands.

Mmm... Pancakes!

Even though Ryan has been barking like a seal for two days straight (mostly in the middle of the night, so yeah, we're not well-rested around here), you couldn't tell he was sick watching him chow down on Cinnamon Oat Pancakes this morning. I make a huge batch of silver dollar pancakes every few weeks, then stash them in the freezer. I made this batch extra special by mixing in a mashed banana and chopped macadamia nuts.

Bear Creek State Park

Today we went to Bear Creek State Park near our house to hike around and support the MS Society, Colorado Chapter as they gear up for three great fundraising events this summer: Walk MS, Bike MS and Hike MS. I have been working two days a week at the MS Society helping the staff prepare, and it feels great to work for such an impactful organization.

It was cool and cloudy again, but that didn't stop us from enjoying being out in the fresh air.

Ryan had such a great time that he took a three and a half hour nap this afternoon - woohoo!

The Great Explorer

We decided to spend a cool and cloudy spring day at the Children's Museum with our friends Jena and David. Ryan was intent on exploring every inch of the museum, including the dandelions in the parking lot.

Once the flora had been sufficiently examined, we headed inside. The first stop is a full-size fire engine with kid-sized helmets and firefighter outfits.

It also has this rather terrifying (I think) model of a life-size firefighter, with a real hose and everything.

We then moved into the little kids area, where Ryan made a beeline for the giant teddy bears.

I thought he was going to spend the rest of the morning just chillaxin' with the bears, but then he remembered his mandate to EXPLORE.

We wrapped up the visit with a little magic potion mixing, which looked much more magical in person.
