Uh Oh

Aunt Sarah took this video on her Blackberry. I can no longer deny that my tiny little man will soon be going to kindergarten, then getting a driver's license, heading off to college, and finally finding SOME OTHER WOMAN to spend the rest of his life with.

I'm going to go eat a lot of Ben & Jerry's now.

Pearly Whites

Yup, there's two of 'em. He uses them to eat chunks of watermelon (he particularly likes chewing on the rind), strips of Monterey Jack cheese, frozen kiwi cubes, and pieces of banana that more often than not end up mushed in his fist which he looks at like "Dude, where'd it all GO?!"

Oh, and he's EVERSOMUCHCLOSER to crawling. Please pray for us.

Friday Afternoon Swim Club

This week we piled the kiddos into Sommer's baby pool. Notice how Ryan has maneuvered himself to block David's access to ALL of the toys...

What happens if I shove this into my mouth? It is a shovel, right?!

MacKenzie spent most of the time trying to get OUT of the pool...

...but got upset when Ryan hogged the chewy end of the inflatable seahorse...

...and tried to steal his hat in retaliation.

Let's Play a Game!

It's called - Where's Ryan?

If you said "under the futon," you're right!

And two minutes later (okay, maybe five), he made it across the room to the dog door.

I'm outta here, yo!

Here's a video of Ryan playing with a set of nesting cups for the first time. It's fascinating to watch him explore this big crazy world we live in - well, I think so, anyway! His new "scootching" skill makes an appearance around 1:10.

Water Babies

On Friday David, MacKenzie and Rowyn (and mommies Jena, Sommer and Dawn) came over to swim in Ryan's new pool.

David rockin' the mohawk

I think all the kids took nice long naps later that afternoon!

After he quickly outgrew two baby bathtubs, we decided to just take Ryan into our bathtub with one of us. Now that he has such good balance, I let him take a bath all by himself - with plenty of toys to chew on, of course!

Recent Activity

And I do mean ACTIVITY. Here's a shot from the Bike MS Colorado bike tour that Sam and I volunteered at in late June. Ryan is waiting to cheer on the last cyclist as she crossed the finish line on Saturday - she was 82 years old and rode the entire 73 mile route without catching a ride in a sag wagon. Yes, he is holding a cowbell, since all we ever really need is MORE COWBELL.

Trying out our new hiking pack on Green Mountain

Oh yes, this is the "I'm ready to DO this" position - he will be crawling very soon.

Teething

Yeah, it's like that.

Look at the Fishies!

Ryan and Aunt Sarah and I went to the Downtown Aquarium yesterday to, well, look at the fishies.

This display was cool - you can crawl under the tank to look at the fish from the bottom, and just as Sarah and Ryan got under there, this ENORMOUS fish came and parked himself right on top of the dome. I guess there's not much else to do to entertain yourself when you live in a 5 x 8' cell - I mean, artificial habitat.

Despite us imploring him otherwise, Ryan spent a remarkable amount of time NOT looking at the fishies:

And then I tried to feed him to the stingrays. They weren't interested.
