Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving Day dawned bright and sunny with the thermometer reaching 70 degrees by 10 a.m. Only in Colorado is the trailhead parking lot packed with cyclists and hikers burning off calories in anticipation of later excess...

The Zwyers joined us for a nice stroll up the hill.

On Saturday morning we met the Sapersteins and Sam's parents at the Rocky Mountain Toy Train Show. Eli dressed for the occasion.

Ryan wasn't nearly as interested in the trains as Sam and Bill were...

But Jack liked watching them zoom around.

Videos of Jack

Oh, this one is too cute for his own good. I haven't been as diligent as I should be at taking videos, but I think I've got three here that are pretty representative of our life these days (of course you can hear Ryan in the background of all of them!). [Please ignore the random other Youtube suggestions at the end of each video... geez]

Happy Birthday Max!

My friend Amy hosted a party for her four-year-old son Max at a bouncy-house place. I wasn't sure how Ryan would do, but since he enjoyed the bouncy house at Mile High Farms, we decided to give it a go.

The party was scheduled during Ryan's regular afternoon nap time, but since it was an hour's drive away, I thought he might nap on the drive. He did - falling asleep 10 minutes before we arrived! So he was a little woozy when we went inside, where the 4 and 5 year olds were in full bouncy-house frenzy. We decided to cuddle in a chair and get acclimated.

He was enthralled with this giant slide and giggled as each group of kids scrambled up the rope ladder then slid down. Of course, he didn't actually want to go down it himself...

After about 20 minutes I was able to cajole him to enter a smaller bouncy house that the larger kids largely ignored... and suddenly it was the funnest thing ever!

Of course, the party was only scheduled for a limited time, so shortly after Ryan conquered his fear of all things bouncy it was time to go have CUPCAKES and JUICE POUCHES. We were the last people to go into the party room, so the only seat left was at the girls' table. Ryan didn't seem to mind...

...especially once the cupcakes were served!

Happy Birthday Max!

Who Wore It Better?

Here's Ryan, Christmas 2010, age 2, wearing a pair of 2T size footie jammies.

Here's Jack, November 2011, age 13.5 months, wearing the same 2T footies... Whaaat?!

And here's Ryan at 35 months - wait, who swapped out this giant preschooler for my little man?
