We are in the middle of potty training with Ryan and he is doing extremely well. He has learned to recognize the signs of having to go pee or poop and we don't have to remind him. This weekend we were in Copper Mountain for Hike MS and though we put him in a diaper when we were out and about, in the condo we continued to let him run around naked and use his potty seat when he needed to.
This exchange was just too funny not to capture on video. Sorry, there's some below the waist nudity (he is sitting on the potty after all); fortunately no sound effects or Smell-O-Vision...

How Does My Garden Grow?
It's been hot lately (nothing out of the ordinary for Colorado in July...), but thankfully the monsoon rains appear to have stopped. My garden is doing pretty well - the earwigs seem to think it is their own personal buffet, and that's enough to keep me away. I can tell from a distance that our scarlet runner beans are going gangbusters.
Now that the sun has been out for a few days, the tomatoes are plumping up and moving ever so slowly from green to - um, not so green.

I got distracted from the plants by a cry of "Mommy, I peeing!" from Ryan, who is working on potty training, so we all headed inside. The A/C is on and it feels so nice...

Pau Hana
In Hawaiian, pau hana means "quit work", so it's often used to describe rush hour traffic or happy hour specials. This is what pau hana looked like when I got home today:

Eat, Play, Love
Or, at our house: Eat, Eat, Eat, Play, Eat, Play, Play, Play, Play (with Love mixed in all over). Jack is in the awkward middle stage of not wanting to be fed pureed stuff but he is also not capable of feeding himself enough to entirely fill his belly. I compromised here, mixing a veggie puree into eggs to make a frittata. As you can see, he suffered through it.
'
Today I made a big batch of more "sophisticated" baby food - a variety of ingredients mixed together and left in a chunkier texture.
There's tilapia with spinach and cheese sauce, tomatoes with cauliflower and carrots and cheese, veggies with cheese and tofu, and green veggies (broccoli, peas, spinach) with potatoes.
Here Jack is enjoying tilapia with carrots and peas in a cheese sauce followed by steamed sweet potato cubes and cherry/peach tapioca. Yum-O.

Glimpses of You
We've been really busy lately as these videos can attest, what with Jack learning to walk with the toy stroller, spending time at the splash park, and generally getting along pretty well as brothers.
